For a few days, Mizzou was on top of the college basketball world. A victory over No. 4 Alabama had the whole sport buzzing, and the beehive rested in Columbia, Mo.
Then, the Tigers crashed back to the Earth.
A 92-85 loss on the road to Arkansas briefly stopped momentum that looked like it could’ve propelled Mizzou to the tippy-top of polls. Tuesday presents a chance to get back on the right track against South Carolina, who sits at the bottom of the SEC standings. However, the Gamecocks aren’t nearly as bad as their record shows, and they could very well give Mizzou a run for its money, just like they have for a lot of other top teams in the south.
