COLUMBIA, MO. • As he finalizes his second recruiting class at Missouri in search of ball-handlers and perimeter scorers, Cuonzo Martin had another program on the mind Thursday.
The topic of conversation was Martin’s quest to rebuild his backcourt. In the last week the Tigers have signed Chicago high school point guard Xavier Pinson and landed Illinois transfer Mark Smith. Mizzou continues to pursue Webster Groves point guard Courtney Ramey, one of the nation’s highest-ranked unsigned high school recruits.
There’s some thought that Smith and Ramey couldn’t co-exist on the same team because both envision themselves as primary ball-handlers.
