COLUMBIA, Mo. • Before Missouri quarterback Drew Lock moved to campus in June, his dad sat him down to complete a task. They made a list of 10 goals for his freshman year.
Conventional wisdom had the young quarterback fitted for a redshirt this fall. Maty Mauk was entrenched as the starter and still just a junior. If Lock would earn early playing time it would come in 2016 as Mauk’s backup.
The list of goals said otherwise.
“We’ve talked about this moment in his life for a long time,” said Andy Lock, a former Mizzou offensive lineman who played during the Woody Widenhofer and Bob Stull years.
