COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jayhawks down.
Missouri survived a lengthy second-half scoring drought to hold on for one of the most remarkable results in program history: a 76-67 upset of No. 1 Kansas.
The Tigers led by as many as 24 but the Jayhawks were within two points down the stretch. Timely defense and free throws sealed the game.
MU fans stormed the court after the win, which is the school's first over KU since 2012, when both were playing regularly in the Big 12 conference.
Guard Tamar Bates, who hails from Kansas City, Kansas, scored 29 to lead Missouri.
