COLUMBIA, MO. • The Southeastern Conference gets to flaunt its renewed basketball talent and depth again Saturday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge, but for the two Tiger teams at Mizzou Arena, once again they’re left off the invitation list.
We can blame simple math and Mizzou’s three years in the dark ages for the team’s exclusion. With 14 teams to the Big 12’s 10, four SEC teams have to be left out of the annual conference series. In 2017, the SEC chose its 10-team field for the next two years based on the league standings from the previous season.
