COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri's thin frontcourt has taken another hit. Freshman forward Mitchell Smith will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Wednesday's loss to Louisiana State, the team announced Thursday. Smith went down awkwardly while guarding along the perimeter on the final play of the first half. Smith instantly clutched his knee in obvious pain and needed help getting to the locker room.
“Unfortunately, Mitchell Smith will be out for the remainder of the season due to a significant ACL injury in his left knee," Missouri coach Kim Anderson said in a prepared statement.
