COLUMBIA, MO. • As the seconds ticked away in the annual Kirkwood-Webster Groves Turkey Day Game, Pioneers running back Jerod Alton knew he was close to setting the school’s career rushing record in his final high school game.
“They told me I was 29 yards away and we only had about a minute left,” Alton said. “I was like, ‘Well, I’ll miss out on this one.’”
There was some consolation in finishing second.
“I’m behind my brother, so that made me feel a whole lot different,” Alton said. “And we won the game. We definitely won.
