Kim Anderson choked back tears at Monday’s introductory press conference at Pittsburg State, where he’s the Division II school’s new men’s basketball coach. In his opening comments, Anderson recognized former Pitt State coach Kevin Muff, who was fired after a five-win season.
“I know how hard it is when someone loses his job,” Anderson said, pausing several times, “especially a good person. As we go forward and I deal with these (players), I thank him. He’s a friend. Obviously we competed against each other a little before I went to Mizzou. We need to recognize what he did for this institution.
