A few days ago, Kansas State basketball coach Bruce Weber made a telling comment about his expectations for the remainder of the season.
It would be great if the Wildcats could play well, he said, but all he really cared about was winning games.
That was certainly K-State’s mantra during a 58-48 victory over Texas on Wednesday at Bramlage Coliseum. There were no style points to be had in this slow-paced, low-scoring game. Survival was the only thing that mattered.
K-State and Texas both entered the day on the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Wildcats (20-8, 9-6 Big 12) were in better shape than the Longhorns (16-12, 6-9), but they needed a win to keep it that way.
