Jontay Porter, coming off a promising freshman season, decided he won’t follow his brother into the NBA and has pulled himself out of consideration for next month’s draft, MU announced Wednesday, nine hours ahead of the deadline for underclassmen to pull out of the draft.
The 6-foot-11 18-year-old will return to Mizzou for his sophomore season after auditioning for the NBA the last few months. Unlike older brother Michael Porter Jr., Jontay did not sign with an agent, freeing him to return to college as long as he declared his plans by Wednesday’s 10:59 p.m. CT deadline.
“We are excited that Jontay will return,” MU coach Cuonzo Martin said.
