Jim McElwain’s Status Uncertain for Mizzou’s Season Opener with Central Michigan

One of the big storylines surrounding the season opener between Mizzou and Central Michigan on Saturday afternoon was Jim McElwain making his return to SEC country as a former Florida head coach.

Unfortunately, that situation might be in doubt. On Wednesday afternoon, the Central Michigan Football team announced that McElwain has undergone surgery on the Appendicitis. Assistant coach Tim Skipper has taken over the head coaching duties for the time being.

A news release from CMU Football:

Football Head Coach Jim McElwain has been diagnosed with Appendicitis and will have surgery today.
