Iowa is the favorite as NCAA wrestling returns to St. Louis

The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships will begin Thursday morning at Enterprise Center. The event, which runs through Saturday, will be co-hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Last year’s championships, scheduled for Minneapolis, were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attendance at this year’s event will be limited because of the coronavirus. But ESPN will broadcast Friday night’s semifinals and the championship matches on Saturday night. Full coverage of the event can be found at ESPNU, ESPN2, ESPN3 and the ESPN App.

“I know people are complaining about (few) people in the stands, (few) fans, but after last year I feel grateful to be part of all this,’’ Missouri coach Brian Smith said.
