COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men’s basketball has developed a knack for comebacks.
It’s not quite an aptitude for comeback wins — the distinction there is important. But the Tigers have lately, and perhaps strangely, been finding ways to close down gaps without doing quite enough to salvage victories.
This trend, which has now appeared a few times in Mizzou’s 11 games, started back on Nov. 16 against Minnesota. That was when the Gophers led the Tigers by 20 points with 11:25 to go in the game, only for MU to flip the result to a two-point win by the game’s end, a dramatic genesis of the rallying phenomenon.
