COLUMBIA, Mo. — One of the Missouri football team’s most vital and compelling preseason position battles appears all but over.
Coach Eli Drinkwitz‘s staff recruited highly touted University of Houston transfer Cam’Ron Johnson to challenge for the center position, but incumbent starter Connor Tollison’s strong preseason camp forced the coaching staff to call an audible: Johnson moved back to his natural guard position last week, all but ensuring Tollison will handle snaps for the Tigers when the season kicks off Aug. 31 against South Dakota.

Johnson “still will snap after practice (and) be ready, but right now, Connor has done such a nice job that it’s time to let us solidify that job and see if there’s another competition available,” Drinkwitz said Saturday.
