The University of Missouri athletic department has unveiled a new, more-expensive-than-ever way for Tiger fans to get good seats for Mizzou football and basketball games.
It’s nice that Mizzou football is now a hot-enough ticket that the university thinks it can nick its fans for more money. There have been decades (most of the 1980s and ‘90s) where this was not the case (Oklahoma 77, Missouri 0, Nov. 8, 1986).
Unfortunately, the Tiger Scholarship Fund, like other universities’ booster clubs, is incorporated as a 501-c-3 “charitable organization.” Eighty percent of each donation is tax deductible.
