Brady Cook had never heard the legend about his fellow Mizzou quarterback from St. Louis.
“Good thing I know who Pete is now!” Cook said by phone Sunday after hearing the story about a man named Pete Woods.
Missouri, which will play vaunted Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, has faced the Buckeyes a dozen times. Lost 10 of them. Tied in 1946. S the only time Mizzou ever beat Ohio State was one divine afternoon in 1976.
Pete Woods is 68 now. Still lives in St. Louis, where he attended University City High. He attended Ol’ Mizzou — where his father went and where his two sons would go — but hadn’t started a game by 1976.
