When they joined, there was already another Columbia and two other Tigers.
And 11 football seasons later, Missouri remains an “other” in the Southeastern Conference, where the school is geographically and metaphorically on the fringe.
Yes, yes, those second and third SEC seasons were quite a wonderful tease. Coach Gary Pinkel’s Tigers went 12-2 in 2013 and 11-3 in 2014. But in the other nine years, Mizzou has averaged 5.7 wins.
The chase of relevancy is redundant. New coaches, new athletic directors, same ol’ Mizzou.
But 2023 has the makings of a big building-block year.
