COLUMBIA, Mo. • Football season is here, and you can hear it wafting from the practice fields, this symphony of tackles and cackles and grunts and punts … and you can feel it in the forgiving temperatures that have dropped defensive end’s number to receiver’s number … and you can taste it in the hot honey maple sauce on the wings at CJ’s … and you can see it in the smile of the offensive lineman, who in a week will finally experience that delicious, viscous rush of colliding with a stranger.
