As an up-and-coming Southeastern Conference coach, Eli Drinkwitz checks a lot of the necessary boxes: he’s grooming a young quarterback, he’s drawn up some fancy plays that impress old ball coaches and young recruits, he’s got that prerequisite tinge of an accent developed during a childhood in SEC country, he’s got a signature win (though let’s reassess the 2020 LSU team in a month) and, as heard Thursday, he’s mastered the art, used by SEC forbearers all the way back to Bear, of saying nothing.
So, Mizzou receiver Damon Hazelton, the acclaimed ACC transfer, has yet to score a touchdown and had just two catches in last Saturday’s loss — and one pretty big drop.
