Today we’re talking about MLK Day. Oh, and the National Championship! That should cover everything important happening today!
Obviously the big sports news is that Ohio State and Notre Dame are squaring up for the National Championship tonight. In a more nuanced view of the game, it feels extra significant to note that Marcus Freeman will be the first Black head coach to call the shots in an FBS Natty. That it’s happening on MLK Day is pretty significant. Still, Freeman wants the focus to be more on the man the day is named for than the one on Notre Dame’s sideline:
