Maybe there's hope for this Missouri basketball team after all.
With guards Terrence Phillips and Frankie Hughes leading the way, the Tigers took No. 11 Xavier into overtime before losing 83-82 in Orlando on Thursday afternoon.
Phillips played a brilliant all-around game, scoring 21 points, pulling seven defensive rebounds and dishing five assists. The sophomore point guard attacked the basket again and again off the dribble, scoring baskets and earning free throws.
Hughes just kept bombing away, launching 20 shots, including 13 from three-point range. The fearless freshman scored 24 points, made three steals and grabbed five rebounds.
