Gordo: After their running start, Gates' Tigers hope to knock down tougher foes

The Tigers’ 9-0 start came against lesser competition, but they established the program’s identity by playing hard and fast.

This team hounds ballhandlers, jumps passing lanes, wins 50-50 balls, fast breaks off live-ball turnovers, makes extra passes and catches fire for scoring runs.

“I want to consistently play a style that gives you a positive assists-to-turnovers ratio, you shoot the ball over 30-plus percent from the three, and you defend,” Gates reiterated last week. “I think our guys are doing those three things in their own unique way.”

But at nagging question remains: If Southern Indiana can score 91 points on Missouri and Southeast Missouri State can put up 89, how many points will No.
