On February 5, 2022 Texas A&M, the 66th best team in the country per KenPom.com, welcomed in the 134th ranked Missouri Tigers to Reed Arena. Not exactly a marquee matchup. Mizzou was 2-6 in league play in what would become Cuonzo Martin’s last season as head coach. A&M meanwhile had started that season 15-2, and 4-0 in the SEC. But they had lost five straight, things were getting rough in Buzzville.
You’d think this would be a good game for the Aggies to get off their slide and take down a bad Missouri team. But Mizzou won the game, weirdly enough.
