COLUMBIA, MO. • After falling behind and losing two starters to knee injuries, Missouri took a 14-13 lead on Middle Tennessee in the final minute of the first quarter.
Kendall Blanton’s diving one-handed touchdown catch of Drew Lock’s 15-yard pass plus Tucker McCann’s extra point gave the Tigers their first lead with 54 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Things couldn’t have started much worse for Missouri. After a game-opening punt, Missouri lost senior linebacker and leading tackler Michael Scherer to a strained right knee on Middle Tennessee’s fourth play from scrimmage, coming a play after Brent Stockstill fooled everyone on a 63-yard quarterback draw deep into Mizzou territory.
