HOOVER, Ala. • Former safety Ian Simon accepted the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award on behalf of the 2015 Missouri football team at Tuesday's second annual ESPN Sports Humanitarian of the Year Awards in Los Angeles, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz confirmed.
A 30-minute condensed version of the awards show, hosted by Laila Ali, will be televised Friday on ESPN at 6:30 p.m.
Mizzou's award, named in honor of the late ESPN broadcaster who died of cancer last year, "celebrates someone that has taken risk and used an innovative approach to helping the disadvantaged through the power of sports," the network announced last month.
