Ex-Mizzou QB Maty Mauk resurfaces in CFL

After a promising 2016 season with the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos, there was some speculation that James Franklin might be headed to Saskatchewan to take over as the Roughriders’ quarterback.

Instead, the club just signed … Maty Mauk, Franklin’s former Mizzou teammate.

After getting dismissed from Mizzou after the 2015 season, Mauk resurfaced at Eastern Kentucky but missed most of the season with a shoulder injury and also suffered a concussion. He underwent shoulder surgery in November. Mauk spent the offseason working with former NFL quarterback Jay Fiedler and hoped to catch on with an NFL team after the draft.
