COLUMBIA, Mo. — It’s been 21 months since Eli Drinkwitz took over as Missouri’s football coach, but for the first time Saturday he’ll have the chance to coach in front of a capacity crowd at Memorial Stadium when the Tigers host Central Michigan in the season opener.
Last fall, during Drinkwitz’s 5-5 debut season, COVID distancing regulations limited Mizzou’s home crowds to about 19-percent capacity, topping out at 11,738 for three of the team’s six home games. For the season, MU’s average announced crowd was 11,185 at a stadium with a listed capacity of 61,620.
Drinkwitz closed his press conference Tuesday challenging fans to show up in force Saturday.
