The parallels between Shane Ray and Charles Harris are impossible to ignore now that Harris has an NFL employer. Two years ago the Denver Broncos drafted Ray No. 23 overall and planned to groom the Kansas City native under established pass-rushing star DeMarcus Ware. On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins drafted Harris No. 22 overall and plan to groom the Kansas City native under established pass-rushing star Cameron Wake.
The Dolphins envision using Harris as one of its primary pass-rushers, along with Wake, free-agent pickup William Hayes and veteran Andre Branch. Unlike Ray, who moved to outside linebacker in Denver’s 3-4 base defense, Harris joins a 4-3 system and can keep his hand on the ground as a traditional defensive end.
