COLUMBIA, Mo. — Late in the first half of last month’s junior college national championship game, as John A. Logan College fell behind by 10 points and a dream finish to the season slipped away, Curt Lewis was the calming voice his teammates needed to hear.
“Everybody looks at Curt to see how he reacts and he’s the one that said, ‘Hey, guys, we’re good. We got this. We’re going to be all right.’ Then they just kept chipping away,’” Logan coach Tyler Smithpeters recalled. “That goes a long way with the mentality and the leadership that he’s shown throughout the year.
