Sophie Cunningham continued to make Mizzou women's basketball history on Wednesday. After becoming MU's career leading scorer in her penultimate college game last month, Cunningham is now Mizzou's highest drafted player in the WNBA draft.
The Phoenix Mercury selected the Columbia, Mo., native with the first selection in the second round of Wednesday's draft in New York City and the 13th choice overall. Before Wednesday, former Tiger Amanda Lassiter had been the highest drafted MU player, taken No. 15 overall by Houston in 2000. Cunningham is the first Mizzou player chosen in the draft since 2010.
Former Incarnate Word Academy star Napheesa Collier went sixth overall to the Minnesota Lynx.
