Time to grow up.
The tough-love message was delivered loud and clear Wednesday night.
When forward Jeremiah Tilmon inexplicably fouled Auburn guard Bryce Brown on a 3-point attempt barely more than 30 seconds into the second half of a five-point game, Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin surprised fans with his reaction.
It wasn’t what Martin did. It’s what he didn’t do — turn and summon a substitute from the bench.
Help wasn’t coming. Not anymore. Not after Tilmon had totaled three fouls in three minutes of action.
The foul was too egregious. Especially when you factor in that the Tigers had discussed the danger of Brown’s shot-fake before the game.
