A fake punt at your own 7-yard line? Barry Odom tried it – and after it led to a season-ending victory over Arkansas, the Missouri coach is glad he did.
Odom pointed to the unlikely special teams trickery as a key moment after coming back to defeat Arkansas 28-24 in the season finale, rallying from the biggest second-half comeback in program history in the process.
Missouri trailed 24-7 at halftime but scored 21 unanswered points, finishing with Nate Strong’s go-ahead touchdown run with 12:48 to go.
And no play was a bigger catalyst than a bizarre but effective call in the third quarter.
