ATLANTA • South Carolina quietly won nine games last season despite losing one of the nation’s most dynamic playmakers. Deebo Samuel, a receiver and return specialist Missouri fans know too well, was lost for the year with a broken ankle suffered in the third game of the season. The previous week he ignited a victory at Mizzou when he returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter — just like he did the week before against North Carolina State. At Mizzou, 15 seconds after the kickoff return, he scored again on a 25-yard TD run, putting the Gamecocks in front for good.
Back from injury, Samuel expected to spark Gamecocks
