COLUMBIA, MO. • Kim Anderson coached the Missouri basketball team’s last three games knowing he won’t be back for next season. On Feb. 24, athletics director Jim Sterk fired Anderson effective at the end of the season, Anderson said on Monday’s Southeastern Conference teleconference.
The Tigers left that day to play at Ole Miss and now ride a six-game losing streak into the SEC tournament in Nashville. Mizzou’s final game will be Anderson’s final game coaching the team, Sterk announced Sunday.
Anderson believes the Tigers could have made progress next season had he been given another year to run the program but said he was at peace with Sterk’s decision.
