COLUMBIA, MO. • Jontay Porter was ready for college basketball but not necessarily college life.
Porter spent the summer wavering between a final season in high school or an early start at Missouri, where he has reunited with his older brother, fellow freshman Michael Porter Jr., and given Cuonzo Martin’s lineup another 6-11 forward to confound opponents.
But that doesn’t mean the transition has come easy for the younger Porter, who doesn’t turn 18 until a week after Mizzou’s season tips off Nov. 10 against Iowa State. Porter’s parents, Michael Sr. and Lisa, moved back to Columbia this summer after a year in Seattle, but Jontay is still getting acclimated to apartment life, away from mom and dad.
