COLUMBIA, Mo. — No team in the country attempted more field goals last year than Missouri’s 34. Kicker Tucker McCann was not aware of that statistic until a reporter mentioned it after a recent practice.
“The more attempts the better,” the senior said.
Well, of course. But not everything goes as planned on the football field. When it’s time for fourth down, special teams units take the stage. That’s when Missouri’s 2018 season went off script.
For all the attention showered on new quarterback Kelly Bryant and the search for a potent pass rush, the Tigers can’t afford another season of special teams mishaps.
