A Fan’s Notes: Mystery of the Missing Offense

Related Topics: Brady Cook, Eliah Drinkwitz

Well, that was rough. An exasperating afternoon against Vanderbilt ended with a win, yes, but also contained enough concerning things to give Mizzou fans serious agita.

Eli Drinkwitz completely botched BOTH end-of-half clock management situations. There were some bad special teams moments. There was another brutal coverage bust in the secondary that resulted in another long touchdown.

And once again, Mizzou was plagued by poor offensive execution. More specifically, the complete lack of rhythm and tempo in the passing offense, a total lack of explosive plays, and a bizarrely conservative approach to play calling. As the Tigers exit the warmup job portion of their schedule and enter the SEC gauntlet, back-to-back weeks of inconsistent offense has the partisans losing faith.
