5 things to watch: Mizzou vs. Georgia

This is not the first time Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel has matched wits with Georgia coach Kirby Smart. Heupel ran Oklahoma’s offense when the Sooners shredded Smart’s Alabama defense for 429 yards in the 2014 Sugar Bowl, a 45-31 Oklahoma upset. Heupel plans to pull some pages from the Sugar Bowl playbook. That night, the Sooners worked out of the pistol formation (a sawed-off shotgun look designed for more downhill running) and used the sugar huddle extensively, a hurry-up tempo with the quarterback calling the play at the line of scrimmage. Against Smart’s Alabama defense, Heupel had backs and tight ends shift and motion before the snap to catch the Crimson Tide out of alignment.
