COLUMBIA, Mo. — It’s over.
A Missouri men’s basketball season that began shakily and ended with 19 consecutive defeats — including Wednesday’s campaign-ending loss to Georgia in the Southeastern Conference tournament — can soon become a thing of the past.
The ongoing program record losing streak and first winless season of league play since 1907-1908 will no doubt rear their heads as statistical context or trivia in the coming decades. But for now, it’s time for the Tigers to move on.
This offseason is pivotal for Mizzou. The program is likely to get younger, but that won’t ease the pressure of playing in the SEC — and there’s an urgency to avoid replicating this season’s struggle.
