With all the hunting seasons going on, fishing has taken a back seat, but fishing never stops in the state. More hunters and anglers are combining both sports into one trip. Ted Russell and Chris King are two of those sportsmen I met during deer season.
“Last year,” King said, “we had a great trip to Truman Lake. We had some good duck hunting in the morning, then turned to crappie fishing in the afternoon, where we caught some big crappie and several bass. Later, the next week after the duck hunting season opened in the south zone, we had some fair duck hunting in the morning and hit Taneycomo and brought home a limit of trout, including a three-pound rainbow.
