West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins won't be on the sideline when the Mountaineers open the 2023-24 regular season against Missouri State after using a homophobic slur multiple times during a Cincinnati radio appearance Monday.
Huggins has been suspended for the first three games of the regular season which includes the previously-announced Nov. 6 opener against the Bears.
While many called for Huggins' firing, West Virginia instead announced a handful of punishments and requirements for the head coach on Wednesday in order for the Basketball Hall of Fame coach to remain on the Mountaineers' sideline.
Huggins appeared on 700 WLW’s Bill Cunningham Show to talk about his time as Cincinnati coach and its rivalry with Xavier.
