There have been some surprising breakout teams in southwest Missouri throughout the first five weeks of the 2020 high school football season.
Some appear to be state-title contenders while others have made strides in turning their programs around.
Now that we're more than halfway through the regular season, here's a look at the biggest surprises so far:
Nixa
We knew there would be some changes under new head coach John Perry but we didn't know Nixa would be this good.
The Eagles appear to be one of the better teams in the state after five weeks of play.
