It would be difficult to find someone who played better than Connor Lair this past season — and our readers agreed.
The West Plains senior standout won the News-Leader's high school football player of the year vote. He's coming off a season in which he shined on both sides of the ball while leading the Zizzers to a state quarterfinal appearance.
Lair won the vote while edging out many award-worthy seasons from players such as Carthage's Luke Gall, Fair Grove's Kody Stacye and Aurora's Aaron Fisher.
Lair is the second senior in our four years of conducting a player of the year vote to win the award.
