As Jackie-mania swept through the St. Louis streets in 2001, Beth Cunningham was walking to a pep rally to support Notre Dame, her alma mater, at the NCAA Women's Tournament Final Four.
Notre Dame's all-time leading scorer was hopeful that the team she helped build into the powerhouse it is today would come away with its first national championship.
As she made her walk to the rally, Cunningham pondered what was next for her in life. She had an opportunity to continue her professional basketball career but perhaps it was time for her next chapter.
On a street corner on her way to the rally, Cunningham ran into David Glass who was one of her former assistant coaches when she was at Notre Dame.
