The graffiti is fresh at the entrance of Giboney Cave, but vandalism isn’t a new thing at Springfield-Greene County parks.
“It is a fact of life,” said Jenny Edwards, public information officer for the park board.
There have been two incidents recently at Doling Park’s cave that require cleanup measures. The first spray-paint tag was found on a metal plaque detailing the history of the cave this past week.
“That was comparatively an easy cleanup because we can use a solvent on the metal surface, but what a neighbor discovered at the park (Dec. 19) was actually on the cave rock and entrance of the cave, and that’s more complicated to clean up,” Edwards said during a phone interview Wednesday.
