Tommy Pham is returning to Springfield.
The St. Louis Cardinals outfielder will begin a rehab assignment with the Double-A Cardinals on Thursday night, against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Pham was an opening-day starter for St. Louis, but lasted only one inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, leaving with tightness in his left oblique.
He played six games for Memphis leading up to the Springfield stint, going 4-for-18 with three RBIs.
Pham was in Double-A in parts of seasons from 2010-2013, hitting .339 in 38 games in 2010, then .301 in 45 games in 2013. He was voted to the TL All-Star Team in 2013.
