Courtney Frerichs will have another opportunity to run for an Olympic medal.
The Nixa native won her heat during Saturday evening's 3,000-meter steeplechase qualifying run in Tokyo, Japan, with a time of 9:19.34.
Frerichs will compete for a medal during the final at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. The event will be streamed live on Peacock and is scheduled to re-air during primetime later that evening on NBC.
After crossing the finish line, Frerichs smiled and gave a thumbs up to the crowd. During her post-race interview, she was asked about the triple-digit weather conditions she had to run in.
