Over the summer, Jack Simpson woke up at four in the morning to get to the gym to workout before his team arrived. The first-year head coach needed to bring the energy that he would require from his team.
After downing a Red Bull, Simpson was ready to coach. The Catholic Fightin' Irish rolled in around five for the first of the two practices they would go through that day — while still wiping the crust from their eyes after just waking up.
It was time to wake up. "No fake energy," became the motto for Simpson, a coach who isn't even 10 years older than most of the players on the team.
