In early December, Kickapoo standout Bella Fontleroy sat on the bench as she watched her team play a pair of the top teams in the state.
In a matchup with Miller, the junior standout went up for a layup on a fastbreak when she got bumped by another player. When she hit the floor, so did her head.
So Fontleory sat and watched her team lose by one to Rolla and then by five to Incarnate Word, the No. 20 nationally-ranked girls basketball team, just a couple of nights later. The No. 12 player in ESPN's Class of 2022 rankings felt like she would have made a difference.
