A teen is dead following a fall at an Arkansas national park over the weekend.
The unidentified 16-year-old boy was hiking with a church group when he left the trail, said Cassie Branstetter, public information officer with the National Park Service at Buffalo National River.
"Towards the entrance of the Eden Cave area, he decided the leave the established trail and go scrambling on the steep and rugged rock surface in that area and, unfortunately, lost his footing and fell from that space," Branstetter said in a phone interview.
The boy sustained head and spinal injuries.
